Packaging & Deploying HIS Solution

Hello there:

I have a HIS & BTS 2009 based solution which is comprised of both HIP
& WIP environment objects. I am looking to promote my code from dev to
next environment now. For the BTS solutions, I could easily export a
nice msi package and 'install' it on next environment. But for HIS I
couldn't find any such option. I was wondering is it manual process to
create all the environments in both HIP and WIP and then deploy the
objects? or there is some automation/wizard available that I am
missing on.

Thanks

Maam.

Hi All,
for deployment of WIP, use TI Manager to export the REs and Objects you
are interested in and then on the target machine, use TI manager or the
stand-alone exe (something like MS.HIS.InstallWipObjects, can't remember the
exact name, and as I am moving office right now, I am not attached to my work
environment).

For HIP, there is no "support" from TI manager. You should use the
standard SQL apps to export your HIP database and then import it to a new SQL
server. Then when you configure your target machine, you point to the new SQL
Server and you will have the LE, HE, Security, Objects/Views, Listeners
available. You just then need to create the appropriate Services. Note: you
can also fudge the Computers table in the HIP DB to include any of the new
HIS installations and cheat on the configuration...then TI manager will
re-create services for you. But that is a little messier if shorter.

Ok, listening here - If I were to give you:

Export Everything from One HIP Config
Import One Computer + all the LE/HE/Security Policy/Object definitions

would that suffice? The Applications/Listeners of "one computer" of the
exported information would be imported to the local computer where you run
the import. You would still be responsible for copying your Implementing
Assemblies to the appropriate places (I couldn't easily pick them up from any
computer other than the local one).
